Millie sounded so catchy, so much more unusual than Jennifer. There were no Millies in my class, but you can bet there were 8 other Jennifers.
I received Millie Cooper, 3B as a Christmas gift. Millie's story centers around her aching desire to own her very own Reynolds Rocket ballpoint pen. Everything would be better in life if only she owned her very own Reynolds Rocket. Her love for fancy writing tools made Millie feel like a kindred spirit.

Best friends and old fashioned bullies are part of this storyline. Also, a misunderstood teacher, and loving parents. All things that make up a perfectly wonderful world for Millie to learn the lesson that life isn't necessarliy always greener on the other side of the Reynolds Rocket.
At 73 pages, this literary gem is a perfect story for any 8 year old girl. Once she picks it up, she won't likely set it down till she's read all the way through.
Helen Cogancherry's illustrations in this book are fantastic. Black and white drawings with so much detail, readers will spend just as much time on the illustrations as they do on the text pages.
If you are 8 (or anywhere near it) and read this book, please send me a photo of you with Millie Cooper, 3B.
I have only been able to find this book for purchase a couple places online:
Amazon and Thriftbooks.com. Mostly used copies, but only for a few dollars. I recommend the purchase. Adding a worn and loved copy of a great book to your library is better than missing out on the story all together.
