The Mitford Cookbook & Kitchen Reader

Cornbread & Sweet Tea Cookbooks are some of the most interesting books to get lost in. Reading is great. Reading books about food, even better. I don't have a vast amount of cookbooks, but there are a few on my shelf that I adore. One is my Mitford Cookbook & Kitchen Reader. Jan Karon is the author of the Mitford book series. I began reading these stories as a young adult. I find an uncomplicated fiction story extremely relaxing. I love a book that has characters I want as neighbors. When I found this Kitchen Reader, adding it to my shelf was a must. This book has recipes of the many dishes woven throughout the Mitford stories, accompanied by anecdotes and passages from the series. I have, on a few occasions, sat down with this book and not only planned meals around its recipes but let time slip away while being reacquainted with the Mitford characters. Coronacation Activities even Teenagers Enjoy

It's going by various titles.  What it is though, is full-on fun, old fashioned, quality family time.  Even though it came with an eerie and urgent onset, the novelty of the situation has felt a little bit like when summer rolls around each year. We are full of ideas about how the days will pass.  Our intentions couldn't be higher as we stock up on flour for baking lessons, pump bike tires for mandatory outside time, and Google free art lessons for cultural stimulation. We will cook breakfasts big enough to stuff a starving cowboy, dinner will be opportunities to make sure everyone knows how to properly place silverware and anyone above the age of 8 will master one family recipe. But before long, the novelty wears off, you run out of clever ideas, or heaven forbid your kids are old enough to tolerate your slick ideas for only so long.
